Diary of a Wimpy Kid
When I was a kid, I used to be on the swim team. I was one of the slowest swimmers, though, and so I was always looking for a way out of practice. Sometimes, I'd hide from my coach in the bathroom. It would get so cold in there that I'd have to wrap myself in toilet paper to keep myself from dying of hypothermia.
But I couldn't hide in there forever. So I started going down to the creek during swim team practice to catch tadpoles. I'd always make sure I'd leave enough time to make it back into the pool before my father came to pick me up from practice.
Well, one day, I was a little late coming back, and my father had come to the pool early. When I ran back to the pool, carrying a plastic bag full of tadpoles, my father was standing there, looking at all of the swimmers in the water, wondering which kid was his.
He turned around and I was totally busted. If you're wondering how my swimming career went from there, let's just say I never made the Olympic team.
Jeff Kinney is the author of the bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series.
