Our spirit animal Jeff Kinney was looking through some old files recently, and came upon the earliest concept sketches of what would eventually become Poptropica. We'll let him take it from here:

"What could have been! Way back in 2006, when we first started discussing Poptropica, I put together some mock-ups for what the site could look like. We envisioned an enormous map of single-scene rooms, and missions that you could go on every day.

"Some of this has come true, but a lot has changed! This was before we had the idea of islands or even the name Poptropica. Did you know Poptropica was originally going to be called Poptropolis? If a competitor didn't come up with a similar-sounding name, we never would've had the islands of Poptropica... the building block of the whole virtual world."
